  • Dr. Paula Valenti, Principal                                               valentip@sjsusa.org


    Dr. Paula Valenti is a veteran Pre-K through grade 12 educational leader.  She brings to Saint Joseph School twenty-three (23) years of classroom experience to her new position, along with sixteen (16) years of administrative leadership as a Superintendent, Principal, and Supervisor. 

    Dr. Valenti attended Seton Hall University where she earned a doctorate in Educational Leadership.  She also earned a Master of Arts degree in Elementary Education, with Specialization in Gifted and Talented, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education with certification as a Teacher of Art from Kean College.   Dr. Valenti has been awarded a Distinguished Fellow of the Art Educators of New Jersey, three New Jersey Governor's Awards for Lifetime Achievement, and was named 2012 New Jersey Principal of the Year by the NJPSA as well as a National Eastern Region Elementary Art Teacher of the Year.

    Dr. Valenti is a published author and co-founded the Hands & Minds; Discipline-Based professional development institute sponsored by the Art Educators of New Jersey. She served as an adjunct professor at Fairleigh Dickinson University where she taught in the Middle College program.  In addition, she introduced the Metropolitan Opera: High Definition in School program into the Language Arts curriculum while a School Principal.

    Dr. Valenti is an active member of Saint Luke's Parish in Ho Ho Kus.  In her spare time, she enjoys the beaches of the New Jersey shore, gardening, cooking, visual arts, and theater. 

  • Ms. Lizanne M. Coyne                                                              coynel@sjsusa.org

    Ms. Lizanne M. Coyne, Assistant Principal of Saint Joseph's Upper School has been in the field of education for 25 years, mostly as a private school senior administrator including positions as Head of School, Assistant Headmaster and Dean of Students.    She holds three Masters Degrees in education: an MA in Educational Leadership from Ramapo College, an M. Ed in Curriculum Design and Teaching from Columbia University-Teachers College, and an M. Ed in Athletic Administration from Norwich University. She also holds NJ State Principal and Supervisor certifications, as well as passed the exam and completed the internship for the New Jersey State Superintendent license. 

    Passionate about soccer, Ms. Coyne received a full athletic scholarship to Providence College as an undergraduate and captained their NCAA Division I Women's Soccer Team. She is the 5th all-time leading goal scorer for the Friars.  Ms. Coyne is a two-time inductee in the Ramapo High School (Franklin Lakes) Athletic Hall of Fame and until recently, she was a director and co-owner of GOALS Soccer Camp, one of the largest all-girls soccer camps on the east coast.  Ms. Coyne teaches religious education classes at Immaculate Conception Church in Mahwah and enjoys the Jersey Shore and spending time with her young son and coaching his soccer and basketball teams.

    Mrs. Linda Marconi has a long history with Saint Joseph School.  Not only has she been the Office Manager for more than twenty (20) years, but she is also the parent of two graduates.    Prior to running the main office, Mrs. Marconi was a volunteer in the school library and was a member of the PTO.  In her spare time, Mrs. Marconi enjoys reading, hiking, visiting the beach, watching HGTV, and playing with her two grandchildren. 

  • Ms. Roselle Fauria, Upper School Office Manager                fauriar@sjsusa.org

    Ms. Fauria has been a member of the Saint Joseph School staff for twenty-six years.    In the early 90’s, Ms. Fauria was a pre-k teacher aide and ran the after-care program.   Since then, she has been holding down the Upper School as the office manager.   She is a proud former parent as all three of her children attended Saint Joseph School.   In her spare time, Ms. Fauria enjoys reading and spending quality time with her children and granddaughter.   

  • Mrs. Joan Twomey, Business Manager                        Joan.Twomey@rcan.org

    Mrs. Joan Twomey comes to St. Joseph School via the Archdioceses of Newark.  She begins her fourth year as the Business Manager and also supports St. Peter’s Academy in River Edge and St. Joseph Academy in Bogota.  Mrs. Twomey received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Marketing from The College of Staten Island with a minor in Business Management.    In her spare time, she enjoys reading, spending time with her family, watching sporting events, and walking/hiking.   

  • Mrs. Diane Hellriegel, Director of communications       Hellriegeld@sjcnj.org

    Mrs. Diane Hellriegel is Director of Communications for Saint Joseph School and helps children in need in the NY Metro area.    She creates The Saint Joseph School News, maintains social networking presence, and develops public relations and marketing programs for the Saint Joseph School.  A published author and editor of educational materials, Mrs. Hellriegel is also a certified catechist having taught religious education for over 20 years, 14 of them as a full-time religion teacher at Saint Joseph School.  Besides working to spread the good news of Saint Joseph School, Mrs. Hellriegel enjoys spending time with her granddaughter and family.

  • Mr. tom Meli, Director of operations                                     melit@sjcnj.org

    Mr. Tom Meli is Director of Operations for Saint Joseph School/Parish.  He has an extensive background in facilities management, corporate operations and finance. Mr. Meli is a former Vice President of Operations for A&S Department Stores and former 1st Vice President of Investments for Wells Fargo.  He has served as councilman for Hasbrouck Heights, NJ (and as finance, fire and police commissioners, president of the Chamber of Commerce, and library trustee for the borough).  Along with his wife Michele, Mr. Meli is the founder and executive director of Mickey’s Kids, a 501c3 charitable foundation that raises funds to help provide service/therapy/hospital dogs through Canine Assistants ® to Liberty and Axle, and is a Disney enthusiast.
