Ms. Cara Zakian, Music Teacher, earned her Master’s Degree from Bennington College and a Bachelor of Arts in Music degree from Hartwick College. In addition to music passion, Ms. Zakian loves to travel and enjoys the outdoors.

Mr. Tom Sites, Library Media/Technology Integration Specialist SITEST@SJSUSA.ORG
Tom Sites worked for a number of years at a major telecommunications company in New York city, coordinating installation and maintenance of high capacity data networks. In 2006 he left that position and went to Fordham Graduate School of Education where he graduated with honors and his master’s degree in social studies education. He went on to teach at Cristo Rey New York High School, and became the History department chair. A major part of that position was overseeing the blending of technology into classroom learning activities. His unique mix of competencies and passion for teaching brings a special perspective to all that he does.

Mrs. Suzanne McFadden, Physical education mcfaddens@sjsusa.org
Mrs. McFadden attended William Paterson College, Queens College and The Wood School. She has served Saint Joseph School over the years as a long term substitute teacher and day to day substitute and will join the staff as the new Physical Education teacher in September 2019. Mrs. McFadden has served as a CCD teacher and Middle School Girls Basketball Coach for Oradell, Waldwick and Saddle River,NJ.

Mrs. Carol Scalo, Lower School world language spanish
Mrs. Carol Scalo has taught in the Public and Catholic School systems for over 30 years. She holds a
Bachelor of Arts from Jersey City State College in Elementary Education and a Master of Arts from
Montclair State University with certification in Guidance Counseling and Human Services. In addition,
she holds a Supervision Certificate and English as a Second Language Certification. Aside from her love
of teaching, Mrs. Scalo has been an active member of St. Catherine of Siena Parish in Cedar Grove
serving as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion and is a member of Women’s Cornerstone for
many years.

Ms. Elise Duffy, Art duffye@sjsusa.org
Ms. Elise Duffy joined the faculty in 2020 as an Art Teacher. Ms. Duffy attended Massachusetts College of Art in Boston where she majored in illustration. She went on to Berkley College where she earned a degree in Interior Design. Ms. Duffy has been a Fine Artist for over 20 years doing commissioned work, kitchen and interior design. Ms. Duffy also offers private art lessons for students Kindergarten through Grade 8.
