Lower School Faculty
Mary Lee is starting her 22nd year of teaching kindergarten and she loves it! Every day is a new day with new and exciting things for her students to learn.
She enjoys being a Eucharistic Minister and member of the Service Ministry in her home parish. In her free time, Miss Lee loves being with family and friends. She also enjoys running, taking spin classes and practicing yoga and Pilates.
Maureen Asaro teaches First Grade at St. Joseph School, where she has taught for over 30 years. She attended St. Thomas Aquinas College and received a dual certification in Elementary and Special Education. In addition to teaching, she enjoys spending time with her family, reading, classical music, and musical movies.
Kelly Potter is an alumna of SJS and was very happy to return to her home base to continue her teaching career. She has been teaching for 12 years, the majority of which were at the second grade level. Mrs. Potter has her undergradute degree from Salve Regina University and her Master's from NYU. She and her husband are the proud parents of two children, both current SJS students.
Jane Quigley has both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from St. Peter’s University. She is dually certified in both Elementary Education and as a Teacher of the Handicapped. In addition, she is also a certified teacher of Orton-Gillingham and a certified Dyslexia therapist. Mrs. Quigley taught at Holy Trinity in Hackensack from 2006 – 2009. Prior to that experience, she taught grades 4 and 5 at the Park Academy in River Edge. She resides in Emerson and enjoys spending time with her family.

Jessica Valdes has taught in Catholic schools for over 10 years and has both her undergraduate and graduate degrees from St. John's University. In addition to her Elementary certification, Mrs. Valdes is also certified in Middle School Math. A member of St. Joseph parish, she enjoys volunteering for a variety of church activities and spending time with her husband and three children.
