Extracurricular activities are an important part of the total school experience offered here at St. Joseph School. We offer many different clubs or activities, including the following:
Studio Art Class
Open to students in grades 3 - 8. In this class, Mrs. Errichiello, former Art teacher, guides student art instruction individually, at times emphasizing process over product. There are two sessions, each of approximately 12 classes, which run from 2:50 - 4:15 PM. The Fall session is open for enrollment now. Please watch for flyers before Christmas announcing the Winter session., which starts in January. Classes meet in the Art Room, which is in the Lower School. There is a fee to cover the costs of materials and instruction. Director: Mrs. Maria Errichiello
Open to students in grades 4-8; limit 25 per session. If need be, two sessions will be held so that all students may be accommodated. This group will meet every Tuesday, from 3:00 - 4:00 PM. (If two sessions are held, each group will meet every other week.) Students will be exposed to the various elements of Drama, including pantomime, improvisation, dialect, character identification, costuming, make-up, etc. The culminating event will be a full length production in the Spring. Open to students in grades 3 - 4. Students will gain an understanding of our environment and become active with nature. Recycling will be a major focus, along with projects in and around the school.
St. Joseph School Yearbook Committee
Open to students in Grade 8 and a limited number of students in grade 7. This group meets on Mondays, as needed, starting in January. The group requires a dedicated commitment from each member and attendance is mandatory. Additional meeting times may be required as deadline approaches.

A Cappella Singers
Open to students in grades 5-8. This group will meet during lunch recess on Mondays to rehearse. They will perform in the Christmas and Spring concerts. Director: Ms. Cara Zakian
Open to all students in grades 5-8. This program is designed to help students realize that Math can be fun! Games, puzzles and manipulatives will be used in order to explain Math concepts. Sessions will be held weekly, beginning in November. Director: Mrs. Barbara Condon
Open to students in grades 1 - 8. This is an organized activity which meets at Bowler City, in Hackensack on Fridays. There is a weekly fee to cover the cost of the games, rental shoes and bowling balls. Students must furnish their own transportation to Bowler City. Moderator: Mrs. Lisa Kane, school parent.
Martial Arts Program
Open to students in grades K - 8. This program is designed to give students an understanding of how to develop a strong mind and body through Martial Arts training. The class meets every Wednesday in the Gym, from 3:00 - 4:00 PM.

Team try-outs will be announced for boys and girls basketball and track and for cheering. There are a variety of team levels, with cheering and basketball beginning in grade 3 and track beginning in Kindergarten. Please watch the weekly E-News newsletter for further information. (All these teams include students from the parish as well as students from St. Joseph School.)
Open to students in grades 3 and 4, this weekly session will focus on reinforcing grade level Math skills using a variety of creative methods. The Math Workshop will meet each week. Moderator: Mrs. Jessica Valdes
This club will teach the basics of indoor archery, with an emphasis on student safety. Participants will learn beginning technique and increase eye/hand coordination. Meetings: TBA

Open to students in grades 3 - 8. Students in choir wil provide music for all school Masses and one Sunday Mass. Rehearsals are held every Thursday afternoon, from 2:50 - 3:45 PM, in the Upper Church. Attendance at rehearsal is required in order to participate in events. Junior Robotics Team
This STEM education team is part of the FIRST LEGO Team league and is open to 10 students in grades 7 & 8. The team will meet most Saturdays in the Fall and other days as needed to prepare fr competitions. All meetings will be off campus, at one of our local Catholic High Schools. The league participation fee is $150.

Weekly Rosary Prayer Group
This group will meet in the Music classroom every Wednesdy, from 2:50 - 3:15, to pray the rosary as a school community. All are welcome! Please bring your favorite rosary and an open heart. Moderators: Mrs. Canino and Mrs. Valdes
