A NEW uniform initiative has been launched with a two-year transition window (2018 - 2020).
Pre-school students will wear a comfortable school uniform beginning with the 2018 - 2019 school year. Pre-school students are part of the St. Joseph School community. Wearing the comfortable sweatpants and tee-shirt uniform will ensure that students feel a sense of belonging.
Students in Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 8 wear the St. Joseph School uniform. Gym uniforms and sneakers appropriate for physical education are required and may be purchased through FlynnO'Hara. Grades Pre-K through 4 wear the navy sweatpants and blue tee-shirt; a sweatshirt is also available. Students in grades 5 - 8 wear the new workout suit and blue tee-shirt.
A universal embroidered fleece jacket may be purchased for students in grades Pre-Kindergarten through 8.
Girls in Kindergarten - Grade 3 wear a blue and white plaid jumper, short-sleeve blue or white blouse, navy knee socks and black/dark dress shoes. Boys in Kindergarten through Grade 5 wear navy trousers, blue or white shirt and a blue plaid tie. Boys and girls also wear a long sleeve navy sweater with the embroidered school logo.
Girls in grades 4 through 8 wear a blue plaid skort with a white banded blouse. Boys in grades 6 through 8 wear khaki pants, white shirts and a blue & white striped tie. These students may also wear the embroidered sweater vest and/or a plain long sleeve embroidered sweater.
Only grade 8 boys and girls wear the embroidered long sleeved varsity sweater.
For all grade levels, several coordinating sweaters are available for the winter months. Non-uniform sweaters or sweatshirts are prohibited during class time. In addition, girls K – 8 also have the option of wearing the uniform navy slack, as supplied by the uniform company. All students must wear dress shoes, which should coordinate with the school uniform. Navy and black are popular choices.
During warm weather, students have the option of wearing a St. Joseph School logo golf shirt and dress Bermuda shorts. Every spring the FlynnO'Hara uniform company offers an on-site measuring day for the convenience of parents who wish to order uniforms for the next year. Uniforms are also available through their retail outlet, located in nearby Emerson.
Twice a year, the PTO sponsors a uniform exchange day, where parents can exchange outgrown uniforms with others that have been donated. This is provided at no cost.
