Saint Joseph School has a licensed nurse on staff and a well-equipped health office. The nurse’s office is located in the Lower School building, but she is available to all students and faculty, often walking to the Upper School as situations require. In the Upper School, the Vice Principal and staff handle minor first aid needs.
The school nurse will administer routine first aid procedures, conduct health screenings for vision, hearing, and scoliosis as well as dispense all prescription medications to students. She monitors students who have unique health situations, i.e. diabetes, asthma, etc. In addition, the nurse is responsible for maintaining a comprehensive health record for every child and for monitoring immunization records for compliance with the State of New Jersey Health regulations.
Immunization records and a current student physical forms must be submitted as part of the school registration process. International students must also have a current TB test. Immunization requirements for each grade can be obtained by calling the nurse’s office at 201-261-1860, or by clicking on the physical form link and scrolling to page 2.
